All my adult life I’ve been a teacher. I started my career as a high school German teacher but after seventeen years I became an instructional technology instructor in the same school system, Fairfax County Public Schools in Fairfax, Virginia, the ninth largest school district in the country with 199 schools and 183,000 students. After I retired, I worked in the Schools of Education of George Washington University in DC and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA.

After stopping “regular” employment, I taught photography classes and 1:1 classes to teach people how to use their sophisticated cameras. I eventually took up pencil and pen sketching and that evolved into watercolor painting. I then taught sketching/painting classes. For each of these hobbies, I created a playlist of how-to videos on my YouTube channel.

A few years ago, my wife and I moved into a CCRC (“continuous care retirement community”) in Lynchburg and I volunteer to help residents with their technology questions.

After a 26 year hiatus, I have once again cycling and that is now, at 81, my passion.
